All communities – urban, suburban, small town, rural – are experiencing growth and change, which has an impact on each community's environment.
PLT's new module, Exploring Environmental Issues: Places We Live, provides educators with a useful tool for place-based education to help create a bond between young citizens and their communities. Students will explore current and future community environmental issues, enabling them to make informed decisions about those issues.

This semester we will focus on winter ecology and identify activities that enhance this topic. The goal of the course is to introduce you to the Project Learning Tree and Project WILD curriculum guides. We are using winter ecology as an example theme you can pull from the curriculum. There are dozens of others you can choose that will fit in your current teaching situation.

responsible decisions.
Project WILD is an interdisciplinary, supplementary conservation and environmental
education program for K - 12 students emphasizing wildlife. We use basic technology
to deliver this distance delivered professional development workshop, including
teleconference, internet, and power point. You also receive both of these award-winning
activity guides to use with your students.
Fire! in Alaska - 8 weeks

This popular workshop has now been adapted to be delivered to grades 5 - 12 educators in every corner of the state of Alaska. This eight week distance delivered curriculum has three modules: (1)wildland fire behavior, (2) fire ecology, and (3) fireprevention. Teachers will receive curriculum guides, a Fire Kit with experiment materials, and two interactive CDs that can be used in the classroom.
