This popular workshop has now been adapted to be delivered to grades 5 - 12 educators in every corner of the state of Alaska. This eight week distance delivered curriculum has three modules: (1)wildland fire behavior, (2) fire ecology, and (3) fire prevention. Teachers will receive curriculum guides, a Fire Kit with experiment materials, and two interactive CDs that can be used in the classroom.
You must have a intermediate computer and internet skills.

A $100 deposit is required for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. Upon successful
completion of the course your original check will be returned, you will
recieve one free credit from University of Alaska Anchorage,
and you get to keep the Fire! in Alaska activity kit.
The workshop has been developed in cooperation with fire experts across the
state, many of whom you will be introduced through audio and video presentations
on the CD. Teachers will conduct fire experiments and share hypothesis with
fellow classmates.
Enrollment is limited to 12 locations. One kit will be mailed
per school location.
Register at least one week before workshop start date.
The workshop is taught in a weekly format using synchronous (Teleconference, web conferencing) and asynchronous (discussion board, email) communication. Technology needed includes telephone, internet, PowerPoint viewer or program, Real Player Plug in, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and email.
Credit is offered through University of Alaska Anchorage.
