Project Learning Tree/Project WILD
"Our Changing Climate"
Spring Class begins week of February 25th, 2008
For Rural Alaska Educators grades K - 12 and non-formal educators
Distance Delivered - 6 weeks
This semester we will focus on climate change and identify activities that enhance this topic. The goal of the course is to introduce you to the Project Learning Tree and Project WILD curriculum guides. We are using our changing climate as an example theme you can pull from the curriculum. There are dozens of others you can choose that will fit in your current teaching situation.
Project Learning Tree teaches with hands on, interdisciplinary activities, and provides opportunities for students to investigate environmental issues and encourages them to make informed, responsible decisions.
Project WILD is an interdisciplinary, supplementary conservation and environmental
education program for K - 12 students emphasizing wildlife. We use basic technology
to deliver this distance delivered professional development workshop, including
teleconference, web conferencing, internet, and power point. You also receive
both of these award-winning activity guides to use with your students.
The workshop is taught in a weekly format using synchronous (Teleconference/web conferencing) and asynchronous (discussion board, email) communication. Technology needed includes telephone, internet, PowerPoint viewer or program, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and email.
